No, you just don't understand how things are here. It's not unlike the change to the Gregorian calendar from the Julian calendar in the 1750's and the people rioted because they "lost" eleven days of their lives.

I wonder if that will also sail over the heads of most people here...
Well, fooey on you. My amp goes to 11.

Some people won't be happy until honda takes the carpet and the leather away and ditches the A/C and makes you sit on an egg crate with razor blades for a stick shift and a ring of spikes for the steering wheel. Geez, you hardcore "pure sports car" guys make it seem that they just dropped an automatic tranny in the damn thing. Give it a rest. The real trackers always end up stripping their cars out anyway no matter what the dealer put inside. Anybody else just likes to think they're all hardcore and bitches about things like cupholders and extra space to put your stuff. God forbid Honda makes a sports car that's also convenient.

Now, I don't use my cupholders for drinks, but the thing doesn't take up anymore space. It's like the VSA, if you don't like it, don't use it. Simple as that.

As for the temp guage, big freakin deal! I doubt anybody is gonna lose times on the track b/c honda added a few led's to a space that was empty on the dash anyway.

I for one, think that this new one is an improvment. I'll hold off judgment on the DBW until I test one at the dealer or hear reviews. Personally, I think that's the only thing that might fool with the handling and feedback. The wheels are give or take.

Cars like everything else in this world evolve. In the design and technical areas of engineering for the general public, the first ones are always rushed because timelines and project plans fall behind. There is always room for improvement on anything and it is hard to make everyone happy in any one item. The S2000 is a great car and I can gaurantee that someone here or anywhere else likes a feature that someone else doesn't like.

I keep reading that the first one was how it was meant to be. I say and that is how it ended up. In any engineered design by any large company it has to go through it's own internal design review process. The reviewers are the big wig sales people, marketing people, operations people and who ever else is on the list for reviewing any design concept.

Most of the time, the first production units are downgraded due to cost because sales speculations are not accurate, it is up to who buys the car (or item) and although sales people think they can get close, there is no crystal ball to get exact figures from.

As the car progresses, feedback from consumers guide the progress of the car but again, you cannot make everyone happy. So rather than sit and complain about what you do not like, take a look at what you do. If you like the latest and greatest 9k redline car, get a MY03, if you like the newer exterior, get a MY04-05, you get the point... There are 5 yrs to choose from if you do not like the MY06, get another year or another car.

Daytime running lamps: Lame. If I want this, I will run with my lights on myself. So, I'll just watch for the bypass which someone will post within a few months to get rid of this.
You just pull the fuse.

I hate how the DRL's ruin the front end of the car, so I've had mine disabled since I got it.

If my headlamps needs to be on, I simply turn on the HID's.
