don't forget to check your oil level, especially during the break in period.

The MY06, worldwide, is the 2.2L with drive-by-wire, etc. MY04-MY05 did have the 2.0L (in Europe and JDM markets).
did not know that. you learn something new everyday.

[QUOTE=ottokrat,Jun 28 2006, 04:23 PM]I have an '06.

I've notice a significant difference in VTEC from what fuel I use.

As long as you are running premium gasoline I am sure your v-tec engagement will be just as strong, regardless of vendor. Most gas stations get all their fuel from the same pipeline anyway
That fuel prob. comes out of the same tanks at the same terminal...only difference being the additives injected when it's pumped into the truck for transport to the station.

I just broke my MY06 in at about 900mi right now. I found the surge quite noticable, also a difference in engine sound

MY06 in Europe still is the F20C2 with the 9000rpm redline and dbw!

I've notice a significant difference in VTEC from what fuel I use.

If I run Chevron I can hardly tell it crosses the 6k boundary, though the engine feels very smooth, consistant, and strong at all rpm.

If I run Shell, even though it is already pulling hard at high 5k, it explodes into VTEC at 6k - unmistakable feeling of surging forward/being press into your seat especially in 2nd gear, however, the car is just a bit more jerky or slightly hesitant at low rpm.

I find the VTEC power of the Shell perferable over the smoothness of the Chevron.

I'm in California. Both the Chevron & Shell I've tried are 91 octane (that's the highest we can get here in most of CA). I've also run through several tanks in a row to be sure.

I suspect that the Shell is just slightly faster burning, which is good for power, but can cause occasional knock, which results in the less smooth feeling. I also suspect that this engine is sensitive to minor changes in fuel, and has an aggressive knock sensor.
I would have to agree with this one. For a while, I was using Exxon fuel because on certain days it's $0.05 cheaper per gallon, so I used to go there but I noticed that the car felt like a slug. So one day I tried Shell and the difference is outstanding... I haven't gone back to Exxon since, even though the Shell is slightly more expensive.

Andre
