I had an 02 for 3.5 years, now an 06...I don't notice any lag at all
I'm going to chalk this up to another "urban myth" or "old wive's tale".
Moral of this story .................................................. .
Don't listen to people have absolutely no basis for comparison.
Previous car was an '03 with 65k and 3 yrs of autox. There is no throttle lag on my new '06 but there is two things:
1) I agree with one of the above posters about a hesitation in the throttle when getting back on the gas after being off it. It seems that being harsher on the throttle cures the problem. It's just something I'm going to have to get used to. With the '03 I had the throttle cable so tight that I had to try to be smooth, with the '06 it's smooth to begin with so you can be a bit more harsh with no adverse effects.
2) There is definetely about a half inch of play BUILT IN to the connection between the gas pedal and the cable that goes to the rheostat in the engine compartment. My best guess is that is to keep from burning the TB motor out by dampening the effects of constant +.5% -.5% throttle position fluctuations. This is the only part of the DBW that is annoying me.
Overall I think they did a good job.

If you are experiencing any lag, I would attribute it to the CDV and not the DBW.
I described the problem and Fyrestrike confirmed that his car had it also.
Neither of us were disengaging/engaging the clutch at the time we experience the lag/hesitation.
And considering that none of the 04/05's have this problem (but have the CDV) I would have to say that your theory is incorrect. I drove an 04 just to confirm that after I noticed it.
Like I said before, it's not a big deal in my opinion and I don't mind that it's there in that one instance, but I figured it was worth noting.
The CDV has been known to cause a lag right after shifting. This is the lag I am referring to. If you are experiencing lag at any other time, I don't know what to tell you other than I am not experiencing that problem.

I thought you were replying to Fyrestrike directly, sorry if you were not.
