Thanks for the heads up! Definitely gonna drop by and pick one up.

Honestly, if CR comes with a soft top, I would want to get one. Afterall, the car is meant to perform better than a base S2000 around the track. Yes I could make a base model go faster than the CR with a few mods, but the whole idea of having a stock car appeals to old-school people like me, who does want the car to be much more hassle free (i.e. stiffer & more performance oriented suspension bu maintaining stock ride height is one of the big pluses ...)

Wait...that's impossible...new cars are always better than the cars they replace. Honda would never make changes that make a car worse than the one before it!
They always make them better A better sports car. I have a shifter kart for the track. The S2000's various degrees of being slow around a race track isn't how I rate a car. I do love the S2000 as a sports car on the street. Everyone has different needs in a sportscar. The street oriented 08's look good to me

Is it on newstands yet??? I just went to the Barnes & Noble by me after reading this thread and they didn't have a copy.
I'm not sure. It's one of the benefits of SCCA membership, and I've never actually bought a copy.

I'm actually looking forward to the new 08's. I've been researching the MY00-07 years and I honestly like the 08's over the rest of the years other then the MY02-03 years, although I have yet to test drive the 08's.

I'm gonna actually pick up this magazine so I can read the article,
but from what I read and seen. I think I might have to pick up an 08 myself.

I like the fact that the new 08's will get the new OEM 5-spoke wheel. And the new gauge cluster looks awesome compared to the MY04-07 plus is has the AP2 chassis design which I like over the MY00-03.

Plus they have a stiffer suspensions over the MY07, which is a plus
--+7%/+9% (F/R) for the springs and +10%/+5% (F/R) for the dampers

The 08's also have added a Tire Monitor Pressuring System, which adds weight to the car. The only thing that I despise in the new MY08's is that the seats are higher above the roll bars. I'm looking forward to picking up one as soon as they hit the showroom floor.

I love the 08 wheels. This is supposed to be the new Chicane silver metallic too.

[QUOTE=scottrunsxc,Sep 13 2007, 09:04 PM] Sounds like Honda is continuing to soften and tame the car.

The 08 suspention is stiffer than the 07.
The term "soften" does not always apply to the springs. I could be wrong, but I think in this case it may have been a reference to the MY08's more forgiving handling characteristics. The way I see it, more people spin and crash than track or autocross, so more forgiving handling will benefit more people than improved track performance. If most new S2000 buyers benefit from a change then the change will be seen by most people as an improvement. Opinions will vary, and arguing about opinions will never change anyone's view, so let's not even go there.

The MY08 is different because it comes in two varieties, one better suited to street use and one better suited to track use. To me this seems to be the biggest improvement since the car was introduced back in '99.

I'll keep my MY00 car, because it still challenges me, but if giving new buyers this kind of choice isn't an improvement then ... What is?

This has to be the best year ever to buy a new S2000, so I give Honda three thumbs up on the latest round of changes.

No matter what changes Honda makes to the car, the S2000 you already own still delivers the same things that made you fall in love with the car.
Hence, the very best MY S2000 is the MY you already own.

LOL, imagine how much more I could do to my MY00 for the cost of trading for a CR.
Well said; I concur completely.
