2007 s2000: who else has one?
I picked up mine two weeks ago, and I'll finally be crossing the 600 mile barrier some time later today!
Overall, I'm loving the car although it DESPERATELY needs an alignment. I'm scheduled to see Darin Nishimura next Tuesday. Not a minute too soon, as in certain conditions, the car's responses to input can be disconcerting. Mainly, a back end that wallows under slow speed compression, made worse on uneven pavement in turns, and, I fear, rear end bump steer. The car also shifts subtlely to the left or right on throttle lift and application, most notably when getting on the freeway.
I wonder if Honda has overcompensated for what were perceived to be shortcoming in the AP1 cars. In my opinion, the damping on the back needs to be firmer. Now that I'm much more tuned in to the car, it's really starting to bother me. I'm pretty doubtful that the problem is only a function of a crap factory alignment, but I'm withholding a verdict until the alignment. I want to establish a known baseline before I go mucking with Honda's engineering--which I respect and want to keep intact as much as possible.
Anyone else driven a stock '06 or '07 and felt the same thing? The '02 that I drove a few weeks ago that first hooked me didn't do this as far as I can remember, although my drive in it was very brief.
Otherwise, lovely, beautiful car. So purposeful and right, with no crappy frills. It's sort of the modern day version of early 911s (with the engine in the wrong place
)
Also, is it completely my imagination, or has the engine gotten just a wee bit stronger as it's been breaking in? This is my first Honda--for that matter, the first Japanese car I've ever owned--so there's a lot that's new to me.

The AP2 is more settled and predictable than the AP1. Honda did not over-compensate...they actually corrected a perceived instability (correctly or...incorrectly, by many an AP1 owner).
If you autocrossed both, it would be evident. The AP1 will rotate without much notice unlike the AP2, which has a more gradual progression at the limit with stock suspension. Tires and aftermarket bars certainly have a say as well.
