They're not budging on the $28,800. Seems like a fair deal.

Let them stew a couple days. They can sense you are eager, I like when I am in that position. I think you can get it for 28k plus tax and tags. Wait for them to contact you and tell them you are looking else where unless they can do better. Destination has nothing to do with the deal. They will lose a lot more at auction, and they are accruing interest on it as well. Good luck.

don't care if you believe it or not, but they are losing money on the car now. Depending on how long they had the car (interest) you are getting a good deal.

End of month theory is true, but that will not necessarily push a dealer to lose more money than they have to. All sales are reported to Honda, and it certainly does affect several things including getting more cars. So yes, they will want to move the car. I doubt you will get substantially more off of what you already have there.
No one is arguing that point. It is just how much are they willing to lose. You said a good deal, let them make a great deal for him. I don't know what dead invoice is on this car, after hold back a wholesale reserve. Probably arond $29,5k or so. I bought my 03 in april 04 for 27k. I went to ohio for it, but who cares.

Done deal...$28,800 incl. dest and fees. I'm very happy with that number. I may have been able to nickel and dime, but it wasn't worth the probable nominal gain.

S2Leg...thanks for the heads-up on financing!

EDIT...The current deals do not include S2000's. I hope Saturdays event does???

Congrats on the purchase!

Good job.
