Thumbs up 2008: PLM to supercede PCX ?

So the parts guy at my local dealer admitted that the PCX filter was the correct one for the S2000 for years. I've been dealing with him and he's been giving me the PCX without issue. But he claimed last week they won't be getting anymore and according to his parts catalog on the computer, the PCX filter has recently been superceded by the generic 15400-PLM-A02 Honda filter for use on all Hondas.

Does this mean that Honda is going to stop making the PCX filters? If he's wrong, then the data in the Honda Parts net is giving him the wrong information - I made him look twice, he didn't quite believe it either.

If this is the case then I guess it is time to stock up on the PCX filters

So what is a good "aftermarket" filter to buy from the local parts store then? And what about those of us who have the dealer do our oil changes? What do we do? If we brought in the aftermarket filter, would they install it, would they reduce the price on the oil change? (Yeah I know, each dealers service dept. is different, just bringing up the obvious questions.) Oh yeah, and dont tell me to do it myself, i made that choice not to as soon as I bought my first new car 6 years ago.

Just talked to my friendly local Honda parts guy. He says there is nothing in his system showing any impending part # change. So he may just not be informed yet. But he also told me something else that is good to hear if true... he says there are a number of Acura models that use this same PCX-004 filter. If he is correct then the filter should not be going away any time soon. Just will be at Acura dealers.
