Default 2009 pricing.

So I requested a quote from a well known Honda dealer via e-mail for a 2009 S2000. I got the reply today and I am quite surprised.

I was expecting it to be around $29-32k.

But get this, I was given: MSRP: $28,670 and "My internet price" of $26,300. The e-mail also states that there are "1-2 other vehicles with similar equipment for an Internet Price as low as $22,995.00*". Not sure if those "other vehicles" are S2000s or not. I'm also not sure if those are OTD prices either.

So right off the bat I was like no way, that's too good to be true because the 09 MSRP is over $34k. But is it really that far fetched? The S2000 hasn't been in high demand for a long time and with the economy today, is it really that surprising?

Originally I wanted to get a used car next but finding the right one for me before my current lease ends is stressful. I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on this deal.

I haven't responded to them yet because I want to get the community's opinion.

Never hurts to print the email response and take a drive to the dealer. $26,300 for a new one right now is not too far fetched pending on the dealer's 'traffic'. I've been hearing some crazy deals out there.

MSRP is not $28.670. That sounds almost like invoice price. And the "1-2 other vehicles with similar equipment" may very well be pre-owned.

Should I even bother negotiating some more to get it lower? $26300+TTL is pretty damn good deal IMO. I called up another dealer and said they don't have one and that it's a good price and I should buy it from them instead. Lol.

I'm still going to call around and see what I get.

BTW can you still order 09s?

Don't think that's a quote for a S2000. Isn't MSRP like $34,000?

It is. But the email specifically says S2000 with a picture of it (not actual car they're trying to sell me) and I even called the guy.

They could be quoting you retail prices of used vehicles.
Still, if you're ready to purchase, it wouldn't hurt to go to the dealer with email in hand and check out the car in person. Verify that its a new car, but be ready for the ol' bait-and-switch and get out of there if they treat you like that.

Go to the dealership. See what the actual car and deal is. You kids and your internet shopping...I miss the old days.
