anyone who believes this (that includes some of the idiots who have already posted above) are idiots. clueless idiots.
Firstly, do you believe everything you read?
Secondly, do you even think for a second that Honda can magically turn around a vehicle by mid 2009 that absolutely NO ONE has heard about or seen. The S2000 debuted in 1995 as a concept before being introduced in late 1999. Cars don't develop overnight. A completely new platform for a completely new car takes time. If there was anything even remotely close to being introduced, we would already have seen spy photographs of mules/prototypes testing somewhere.

i believe that.
Engine based on the civic Si's?
K-series in an S is good if you plan on modding it because of the after-market support for that motor. K24block, K20head, F20 pistons, Hondata K-pro, and you've got 300whp
Lighter?
Good
Plainer, more boring, less aggression, less power, more like the MX-5...... no what I was looking for.
My dad has an MX-5(power hardtop, his daily) and I end up driving it every time we go somewhere. Great car, comfortable, quiet, convenient, etc. Everything that someone who is looking for a "sports car" but doesn't want to deal with it.
I like the rough suspension, I love the power, and I don't mind the noise. That car was made for me.... when I was just a tad shorter. One thing I love about Honda is that they haven't put out a fake-manual (fit doesn't count because you can have the 3rd pedal if you want).

some googling turns this up

1-It would be AWESOME if Honda can have some sort of RWD Civic with the K20 200HP engine AND keep their flaship sports car, the S2000, by improving it.
2-It would be HORRIBLE if they decided to replace the S2000 with a SLOWER, softer, more touring version of the real car, especially the year after it is discontinued.
I mean Mazda didn't just replace the RX-7 with the RX-8 immediately in 1996 right after the 1995 RX-7.
If Honda was to drop the S2000 in favor of a cheaper more comfy RWD roadster they would do so at least 7-8 years after the last S2000 was sold.
If anyone believes the S2000 will be replaced by a 200HP RWD Civic by 2009 they are even bigger idiots than the idiots who wrote that article.
