I was reading that the European S2000 has 250 horsepower compared to the 240 hp S2000 we have over here. Why do we get a 10 hp decrease and do you guys know how it was done? is it with computers or is something restricting us from getting 250 horsepower. And are there performance differences? (I dunno if this was covered before but I did a search and found nothing)

Isn't the way HP is measured in Europe slightly different than in the US?

It's actually 250PS, not 250HP...do a search on it, you'll find many threads. It works out to be about the same thing, Hell, there's more difference in HP from altitude changes here in the states than the Stook's HP from country to country.

I think I remember something about the compression ratio on Japanese Stooks being higher than those shipped here, and that accounts for the HP difference. As far as Europe and the rest of the World, I don't know.

The compression ratio in Japanese cars is 11.7, while ours is 11.1...check out Mingster's thread in Under the Hood for more discussion about this.

The European S2000 has 240hp or 240ps as in the US. Only in Japan the compression ratio is different.

237 BHP (240PS) Exactly as USA

247 BHP (250PS) in Japan, most magazines just quote 240 BHP / 250 BHP incorrectly.

In the U.S. we have 240HP not 240ps. I don't know about the Euro cars. The Japanese cars have 250ps which is 247 HP

The EURO cars have 240 PS and 208 Nm. The compression ratios are just as Jay stated.

PS is metric horsepower which I suspect is the same as US HP.
