So I guess if we go over to the Boxster thread the 97 Boxster people will be claiming that their boxster is faster than the 2003's although Porsche added extra hp and torque to the car. And their claim will be becasue they have smaller rims. Come on.

Also, I wanted to add this. When in the history of automobiles has any car company put a LARGER engine in a sports car of the same model and made it slower on purpose?

I'm not following your logic here. In the case of the Boxster, Porsche announced the car had more horsepower, it consistently dynos with more horsepower AND all public and private material validates that the car is faster.

Those three facts are not demonstrated in the piles of data, both formal (industry rags) and informal (personal dynos shared via the Internet, word of mouth etc) to date for the S2000.

Are the 04's faster? I have no idea. I'd like to think so, but we don't seem to have enough data to make that determination ... yet.

You are grasping at straws and using some rather illogical methodologies in an attempt to prove something that it seems none of us are really too concerned with in the first place.

True. Porsche announced that the Boxster had more hp and torque. But you can't forget that Honda announced that the MY04 has more torque. And the dyno's "I've" seen showed that it not only has more torque, but more hp as well. We have all basically accepted the fact that the MY00's dyno with less hp than the MY03's... and Honda didn't announce the hp increase before. So why wouldn't it be logical to assume to that MY04's "who've dynoed higher than the MY03's on several occasions" have more hp than the MY03's and Honda just didn't announce it again?

Also, we are concerned about it or there wouldn't be countless threads on the subject. And we wouldn't be sitting here having this "friendly" debate.

Steve,

I am fairly new to this board, I don't own an S2000 and by no means do I claim to be the final authority when it comes to this particular discussion. Its seems to me though, from all of your posts related to this topic that at some point in time you made up your mind that a 2004 MY S2000 will not accelerate faster or make more power than a previous year model, and that just the way it's going to be.

No offense to you what so ever, but I don't know your background or credibility when it comes this particular scene. That being said I have seen on this board the amount of discussion you have had with UL, and his recent testing of this car. I tend to tip the scales in his direction, being that his experience, knowledge, and credibility within the industry is extremely well documented and publicly known.

I don't understand for the life of me, why it is so difficult for people to except the fact the MY 04 accelerates quicker. TOV did a side by side highway run, and the 04 walked away after 3rd gear, this is not opinion, it's not speculation, it's called SIGHT. TOV made sure the run was done as fairly as possible by starting both cars in VTEC, they probably even switched drivers if I had to guess. To top that off, they fed all of the info into an acceleration machine and came up with very similar findings. What more do people want?

I didn
