Good Luck. Your point is well taken. I know a local guy who bought an S2000 and sold it inside of two months. He just did not like the car. He said it was uncomfortable to him and a convertable was just not for him. Me on the otherhand, I just love this thing! It is perfect to me. So now when I see him a stoplight. I can't help but notice a hint of longing in his stare from his RSX Type-S.

Nice choice thirsh. My buddy just bought one and I have to admit it is a nice car. Very smooth, quick enough , and nice looking. I don't think there's a real comparison between the IS300 and the S2000. There were two different goals in mind when they were designed.

On the other hand...

I agree with you Tanq. The "no-torque" argument holds no water. Torque is for pulling a trailer or getting a beast of a vehicle to even move. It isn't needed in large quantities in a 2900 pound convertible. As I'm going up that large hill I'm not cursing at the "lack" of torque because I'm still passing all the vehicles that have more torque than me.

I test drove the IS300 and all I can say is that it is SLOWWWW. If your not impressed with the torque at 8500 rpm then your gonna be in a rude awakening when an s2000 spanks you in a race. I don't know where you get off thinking the is300 is faster than the s2000.

At the limit, the IS300 (5 spd manual) is not as sharp handling as the S2000 nor is the turn in as sharp. In fact, I preferred the steering feel of my RSX and ex-Prelude over that of the IS - the IS seemed to be always half a step behind... I'd take a BMW 3 over the IS if I were to go that route.

Nevertheless, to each his/her own... In fact, I'd rather fewer people buy the S2000... less competition when I have to sell...

I own a Lexus and I used to own THE only other manual Lexus - 1991 ES250 (less than 5% of them were stick, like the IS300). I test drove the IS300 a couple weeks back when offered free movie tickets to drive it. NOT IMPRESSED, just glad I got something out of the test drive. Here is my write-up:

The IS300 IMO does not live up to the Lexus name. The fit and finish were far below par. I know it is a popular car for the younger drivers, but with the quality of the vehicle it should sell in the mid-20s. I was far more impressed by an employee's new top-of-the-line Altima.

thirsh checked out the desirable vehicles in his price range, and found the car that he will be happy with. All of you that find it necessary to criticize his choice, need to lighten up. cthree said it best.

Maybe, but I think the S2000 is going to have to work very hard to keep ahead of the Infiniti G35. That thing is a torque AND horsepower monster!

Preliminary test drives from the car mags have pointed the new 350Z as rather disappointing. It is N/A and the reviews have been poor. Their tests have also only put it into high 14's/low 15's in the 1/4 mile. I dont think it's a beast.
