from 300zx to s2000
Wow, i dont know if my parents neglected me or what but i never got a free car fro them!
Anyway, the S2000 will be VERY different from you old 300ZX. The old 300ZX's (especially n/a) are dogs. Overweight, sloppy and underpowered. Sorta like muscle cars of that era, the fox body Mustang and F-body Camaro.
You might view the S2000 as an improvement or disappointment, i dont know what you prefer in a car. If you're craving for torque like the 300ZX, you wont like the S. If you like big and bulky cars like the Z, you wont like the S. If you like soft riding car you for sure wont like the S. On the other hand if you like quick and nimble and dont mind revving the engine, you'll like the S.
The S2000 isnt a mainstream car. More people will like the 350Z.

i like the least comfortable ride possible, with the smallest interior and roughest ride. for example, i love driving the lotus, which is also bad low-end.
i did think my 2-seater Z was big, funny u said that.
so basically i will be upgrading everything and downgrading low-end power. i can probably deal with that, but it IS so important to me! when i drive an 's' for awhile i may forget about it. besides, it's not like i am going from a 300zx tt to an s2000. that would be more difficult!
how much does the s2k weigh n e way?

First, Welcome
I had an '03 350Z before my S2000 - - you'll be surprised how quick the S is after you get used to driving one - - I'd buy another 350Z, the torque is nice down low, but right now I'm very happy with the S2000.
my $.02, look for a AP2
Best of luck with your search

It weighs ~2800lbs. It sounds like you're a perfect fit in an S2k, if you've gone to track days. You really see what the S2k is about, at the track...the lack of low end tq only bothers me around town. At the track, the motor is such a perfect gem...
It's sorta like the diamond in the rough, that gets polished at the track.

If torque and low end power are of concern, definitely look at the AP2 (2004 +).

The S2000 is a drivers car. The perfect communication between man and machine. It's to be enjoyed while driving through turns wether it be at the track or out in the twisty country roads. The power it's able to produce is just a bonus. If you enjoy this type of driving, there will be no regrets.
The S2000 makes up its lack of torque with shorter gears. Your ZX may feel torqier, but the S2000 with it's less torque will out accelerate it at any speeds.

unfortunately, orlando is mostly traffic and highway. our 'twisty roads' are sharp on/off ramps, which r still fun
.
i love driving so the 's' may work 4 me.
