The Honda faithful are one of the few crowds of people that act as though torque is not something to be missed. Are you actually happier that the car lacks torque? The s2000 is a great car but it lacks torque and that is a turnoff to lots of people - the argument of 'knowing how to drive right' is a bunch of crap.

To the OP, why do you hate everything about the miata? It is a very similar car in many respects, with an obvious shifter and hp advantage given to the s2000 but why do you hate the miata so much?
Lacks torque compared to a V6 or a turbocharged car..
But as a NA 2.0(ap1) 4 cylinder car it has plenty of torque. You can't compare with different classes of engines, it's not really fair.

thanx 2 all u nice guys! and to sodaking663rd: i think the (even the mazdaspeed) miata is hideous and lacks power. it handles so very nice, but so ugly i could NEVER do it!!!!!!!

and i am liking all the people that have had/do have Z's and made the switch and are happy. makes me feel more comfortable.

and now that i know the terminology, i am getting an 'ap1' b/c of price limit. i'm not all that familiar with the small changes, so it doesn't really bother me. i do know the stereo sounds like garbage though lolol.

oh and crx si's are little whips.......miss it!

u guys rock

I'm sorry you're upset you cant do burnouts by just mashing your right foot. I know, I know...you're friends aren't nearly as impressed with your car because of it.

You obviously arent driving it right if you think the comment "is a bunch of crap." If you did know how to drive this car, you would have absolutely no complaints.

Go buy a V8 car and shut up about it.

PS: I am far from the "Honda faithful." I used to own a nice torque-y LT1 V8. I don't miss it or its torque.

well i can't argue there - looks are subjective. i'm sure you'll get plenty of similar advice but definitely perform some extended test drives, not one of the 'dealer' routes. the 300zx is definitely more of a GT car so be prepared for a different experience.

i understand and agree with you but if you're looking for a sports car it's hard to find one with less grunt than the s2000. of course there aren't too many NA four cylinder sports cars around and i believe lack of low-end power is why.

i know that the s2000 is a wonderful track car and its lack of torque isn't missed there - however when you're not on the track and not balls to the wall on the boulevard the torque is missed...at least it was for me. i had an s2000 for three years.

When I was looking for a used S2000 I drove both an AP1 and AP2. Both are great cars! I really liked the 9k rev on the AP1 but didn't miss it when driving the AP2. Overall the only thing that affected my overall decision was the price. I found a killer deal on an AP2 with only 9k miles.
