Actually, no limp mode and oil changes/maintenance is free.

I have BOTH an S2000 and 335i. I was considering trading my S2000 in for an M3 but couldn't give it up. So I kept the S2000 (for fun) and got a 335i (for commuting and kid hauling). The S2000 handles much better than the 335i and I think better than the M3 as well (but less power than both).
