Default from 335i to s2k?

hey guys, i currently drive a e90 335i. its been a great car but the fun factor just isnt there for me. my mistake was getting this car in the automatic transmission. also ive come to realize that modyfying a bmw is more costly than modding a honda. i have the opportunity to possibly get a used s2k and was wondering what you guys would choose.

i know that quite a few of you have gone the opposite way from an s2k to a 335 but to me there is no driving experience like the s2k, specially with the top down. the bmw is very nice and i fear that i will miss the creature comforts like the navigation and the convenience of an automatic transmission.

and not to be shallow but i might miss the "baller" factor of a bmw even though i know its just a 3 series. so please leave me your thoughts and help me decide.
to keep or to replace with s2k?

thanks

the s2k might not be "baller" but it definantly gets looks.

as for the fun factor... it's always there, at least for me. plus the simplicity of the car's interior is what I like. everythings within a small movement, radio controls, ac/heat, EVERYTHING.

plus if you're up for modding it, why not mod the interior and put in a navi system?

and I agree... get silverstone... it's sex on wheels!

true, modding an S2000 might be cheaper than a 335i, but if you're driving a 335i ($45k?), how is a couple grand an issue with you?

generally accepted facts:

S2000 transmission wins
335i engine wins (chipped = pwns)
handling is pretty close, but 335i is noticeably heavier, whereas the S2000 is tossable (such an overused term but it's probably the best term)

two different cars, but based on the transmission and handling alone, i would not trade my S2000 for a 335i unless i made serious bank.

Hey,

I just got an 2007 s2000 and can provide some feedback. The car is very raw. Not many features that you would normally get from BMW, but again who needs them. It rides pretty rough stock. I had the 350z where I had springs and 19 inch rims and it didn't feel this rough, but I like it. The handling is awesome on the S2000.

I had a 350z coupe for a few years (manual) and then another 350z roadster (automatic this time-wife couldn't drive). I hated driving the auto.

I have driven an 335i convertible which was automatic. Fast car but the fun factor is not there. Since I didn't care for the status quote from a bmw, I opted for a honda. Plus the honda is more reliable in every way .

The s2000 is fun to drive. I have both and I can say that if you can only keep 1, keep the 335. It gets a little impractical after a while but if you really think you can handle that, get the s2000. Post a picture of your e90!

btw, my e90 is up for a lease assumption if you're interested in a stick version

S2000 = super fun-to-drive with second-to-none- transmission

BMW = much better craftmanship with better ride, yet with similar (if not better) performance in general

I drove my friend's E90 335. Car feels more powerful, but there is no fun factor...at all! It was like driving a car...and not a fast go-kart! It does definitely get looks when we stroll into town.

The S2000 however, in my opinion is a lot more RAW. It's a driver's car, not built for luxury. Handles great! Plus the chicks loves convertibles.

Top down S2000 vs Coupe 335, I get more looks. Hands down. Nothing beats a yellow convertible (except for a Ferrari 360 Spyder in yellow ).

I have both and am having my 06' s2k kraftwerked right now.I have the sstt tune on my 335i and for 500 bucks it's pretty awesome. They are 2 totally different rides. The 335i is the more practical and faster (but not for long ) but the s2k is definitey the car I take out to just drive for fun.I'm leasing the 335i and it gets returned in Dec after a 2 year lease,I must say I hate to see it go but for pure driving fun S2k all the way !
