the Z is better, but i warn you the 03 04 models of the car are true lemons!! i found out that their tires wear out every 1000 to 3000 miles because of the front wheel alignment.
there is a recall that fixes this

350Z is faster for sure, no question, especially the 2007s.

there is a recall, but they didn't fix the problem, they only temporally fixed it.

last time i read a magazine the S2000 quarter mile was 13.9second and the 350z was 14second. So give or take.

Depend on the DRIVER.

I've shown a few 350Z's my taillights, but to be honest I feel that the S2000 is a better car on many levels. It's more refined than the Z is, the gearbox is the best in the world. Coming from one of the few who has been in an accident with the S2000, I can honestly say that I would not feel nearly as safe in anything besides my S2000.

Besides, it's a Honda. Nuff said.

350Z if you want to be like every other person out there.

So in that case, keep the s2000 population one more person less =] get a Z!

You're asking an S2000 forum filled with S2000 owners...
Anyway, test drive both and draw your own conclusion. I was a die hard Nissan fan, I was on the mailing list for all the news back in high school before the new Z came out, got the special brochure and playing cards and stuff. Couple of years ago I findally got to test drive one because of an over ambitious salesman. Great car; accelerated great, stopped great, went around corners well, comfortable imo, I liked the interior, well worth the money imo. But to me it just wasn't any fun, felt like they softened teh car alot with sound deadening, etc. It lacked the visceral feel that I craved, and in the end the car that I thought was the biggest waste of money was the one I ended up with, the S2000. But whenever my top is up and I'm just cruising along, sometimes I look back... sometimes.

350Z = 2-seat de-luxurified G35, WAY overweight at 3300 lb.
S2000 = slightly overweight (at 2800 lb.) Miata with some cojones

I'm a 240Z guy, and the 350Z was/is a HUGE (literally) disappointment for me. If you want a car like that, why not get a G35 coupe? Looks better, very similar performance, doesn't weigh much more but offers a TON more utility.

S2000 is the true sports car between them. If you don't need storage space [edit: as I think about it, the Z doesn't have much storage space either, and it is compromised by that dopey strut bar] and you don't mind the bare-bones nature of it, and you want a more direct/immediate driving experience, then the S2k is for you.

As for fast, the S2k is faster in autocross, but they should be pretty close around a road course.

They're definitely two very different cars, drive them both and you'll probably know right away which is for you.

The 350Z was my "dream" car. I wanted one since they first came out. Love the power and looks. 4 years later, I can finally afford to pick up a used one. I go for a test drive. It was great. Waited a couple days to see if another Z would pop up with lower miles. Drove past a used car dealership during those couple of days, saw a S2000 for nearly the same price. Told myself, "what the hell, I never drove one before so I think i'll just take it for a spin" Next day I picked up the S2000. No contest, and the Z was presumably my dream car. So my advise to you is to test drive both. The decision was obvious to me.

I have owned both. I had an 06 350Z GT with a bunch of Nismo accessories. The car even with the upgraded suspension didn't handle nearly like the S does stock. The car is very heavy and bulky feeling compared to the S.
If I would have driven the S before buying the Z I would have never bought it.

I did like:
the option to buy dealer performance parts like wheels and suspension.
The Z also comes with Brembo's if you buy the track or GT model.
You will have more room inside the Z though for sure.
The bi-xenon hid's are nice too.

Over all the S is much more fun to drive and better looking, I think. That is objectionable.

My 350Z
