I totally agree with the forum thing. I've been here for about a month now... and the layout of the forum is the best there is, the people are friendly & helpful, and it's just fun talking about anything here.
The design of the 350Z forum at ZCAR.com is not as user-friendly, and some of the people are total dickheads!
If the forum was the biggest part of my decision, of course I would go with the S2000... Problem is, I'm in Southern California, and every S2000 here have a markup. MSRP would be better, but if I could find an S2k for $2,000 under MSRP (or just anything under MSRP) I think I would jump on the S2000. I've talked to about 5 dealers and 2 in person for the S2000, and all were haggling me for markups... when I refused to pay a markup, they would tell me that they can do MSRP if I buy RIGHT THERE AND AT THAT POINT OF TIME. I don't like this pressure cooker / boiler room type of sales.
For the 350Z, I've had no problem getting MSRP. Of course it won't go under that since it is a NEW car, but LOTS of people paid a markup for the 350Z too. Someone find me a dealership in S. Cali where I can go under MSRP, and I'm there!!!
Oh, and again to reiterate for the third time... someone said that there will be alot of the 350Z base models roaming around... here is the actual survey out of some pre-ordered 350z's...
Base = 4% ordered
Enthusiast = 20%
Performance = 16.57%
Touring = 47.43%
Track = 12%
This is to show you that there wont' be alot of BASE models rolling around. There are 3 more Track models to every base model. The base model of the 350z is kinda like the Honda Accord DX... Nobody actually buys the DX model in the Accord. People buy the LX, and the EX when they can afford it. The DX is the least sold one, even though it is the least expensive.
I know in the case of the Mustang, the lowest sticker price sells the most, and this same thought process works with most cars. However, there are exceptions, and this is one of em...

Don't get white. (No offense to White S2k owners). I owned one white car, 88 911, and never again.
It is a lot of work, only looks clean when it is really clean, and, in my opinion, it just doesn't look good.
Go for the gold, it looks pretty sweet.

By the way STL... Here is another survey of about 7000 pre-ordered 350Z's...
You can see the Base Model is the LEAST popular by a long shot.

it all depends on where you live....
in toronto, M coupes are commonplace.
