Default 350Z vs S2000

I have had several S2000s. Just got rid of my 2003 red S2000 and will miss it dearly. I replaced it with a 350Z roadster - Lemans Sunset with ventilated seats. With the top down it is stunningly beautiful. The exhaust note is as sweat as can be. Is it better than the S2000? I think both are wonderful cars. The Z is a little more of a GT type vehicle where the S2000 takes sort of a bare-bones sports car approach. The design of the Z is more current and I can tell you it is a gas to drive. I hope the changes to the S2000 for '04 help it compete.

Just curious, why "several S2000s?"

Compete meaning, making it a "GT type vehicle" contender? Making the design more current?

(rubs crystal ball)

I see a 2004 2.2L Rio Yellow S2000 in your future.

I had several S2000s due to the design changes ( rear window, interior changes etc.) and color changes ( when they added yellow). I am still a huge fan and I did not think I would like the 350Z roadster as much as I do. When I said "compete" I mainly was thinking of alittle more low end torque and design.

Compete? Read car and driver and the other magazines that tested roadsters last month. They tested a MY03 s2000 against the new Z roadster and the S ripped the shit out of the 350Z. As far as styling, although the Nissan is a "newer" design, it doesn't mean that its a better looking car. The design of the S2000 still looks better even though its older...you've heard this a million times before and hear it is again: in the long run, the S2000's design will outlast many cars, especially the Z.

Hey, everyone is their own person, and if you're happier with the Z, then I don't know whats wrong with you. haha, just kidding, if you're happier thats all that matters, enjoy.

I agree but for the S2000 to "rip the shit" out of the Z you have to work really hard and that does get old at times. In addition, until you see in person the top go down on the 350Z and be completely covered and how perfect it all looks you can't understand.

If you can afford to change S's for model year changes that are unrelated to the character of the car I suspect you will find a reason to move onto the next thing when it comes. I think the S has a timeless anti-fashion character which will endure while many of the new 'better by the specs' w/ the latest gizmos / gadgets will pass. Enjoy your Z.
