IMO, the back end of the 350Z looks way too big when the top's down. Personally, I think the coupe looks better, but to each his own. There are very few cars that look better than the S2K IMO...one being the 360 Modena(all-time favorite).

I thought the 350Z would be a better fit for me. I thought I'd enjoy hitting the freeway with the top down and cruising here, there and everywhere. Seemed to me the 350Z would be good for that and all the road tests have said the same. But for some reason the s2k really struck me.
Turns out, with the s2k, driving around in circles going nowhere in particular is more fun than I anticipated. I'm disappointed when I can't see another turn in the road ahead and I don't get anywhere near a freeway if I can keep from it. Keeping busy with the gearbox is actually lots of fun too. I liken this little car to a motorcycle with an extra set of wheels. When vtec kicks in it reminds me of those old Yamaha 350 two-strokes getting on the pipe.
Haven't seen a 350Z yet, I'll ask for a top down demo when I do.

Congrads on the car. I agree the exhaust note from teh Z is simply amzing in my book. A very unique sound. Have fun in the Z. Personally I just love rining out my engine to 9000 every shift. I'm sure its something you can now dream about having again...lol. Good luck

Actually, I seriously considered the exact Z you're describing. Orange w/Burnt Orange interior and mesh seats. It was quite nice. But after drivig both the Z and the S, reading reviews, studying specs, looking into price etc... I chose the S.
One big factor was price. The dealers were stuck on $3000 over MSRP for the '04 Z and there were/are waiting lists in the D/FW market. The '03 S2Ks are instock and available for just over invoice which works out to about a $6000 difference. That made my choise all the easier. Looking back, I'm glad I got the S and I don't think I'd trade it for a Z roadster even up, much less for $6K price difference.

If I could stand the look of the front end as well as other areas and wanted to spend $40,000.00 or so I'd probably take one for a ride. But I can't get past the ugliness of the car.
But if you like it all the power to ya.

I was also briefly (very briefly) considering the 350z before getting the S, but now when I see at least 5 in ten minutes of driving, I'm glad I went with the S. Give the convert a few months, it'll be a dime a dozen too.

Look, man, Ive said this before. I'll say it again, for all the noobs.
It takes a MAN to get behind the wheel of this screaming, take no prisioners, no bullshit roadster. Want cute gauges and fuzzy cupholders? Get out my damn car. Want tire pressure monitors, and lumbar support for your sensitive backside? Dont slam the door on your way out. Cant handle the wind in your hair? I'll stop at the next light and let you out.
Now if you want to rip (and I mean RIP) down a winding country road, nailing 9000 (count them, NINE THOUSAND) rpm upshifts, scaring birds and small animals and making police officers reach for their weapons, then Honda has a little something for you.
It is the edge of the razor. Do you dare?
(This post is alrgely in jest, and merely a means for me to exercise my writing abilities, or lack thereof. Unwad the underwear).
