I called around during lunch and one company in Virginia Beach, VA quoted me $300.00 for a standard kit for the S2K. This does the front part of the hood and the front part of both fenders. I was also quoted $785.00 for the deluxe kit which also inlcudes the standard kit plus the bumper.
Hmmm seems to be pricey, I haven't priced out the S2k , but on teh RX8 it was $500 cdn about $350 usd for bumper all the way up the hood to the rotary indent 18:" or so and the side mirrors as well!,
I got Sebring Silver and got my clear bra installed last winter before driving it. Cost me $500 for the deluxe kit installed. But some shops do charge up to $1000. Personally I think it was the best thing I did for my S. Also everyone that sees the S does not notice the clear bra until right up to it, almost invisible.
Hey Hokie, I have the 3M on my car. They did 40% of the hood, the fenders, the side mirrors, the lights and the door handles. It cost me $275 and they came to my house and did it. I love it. I wanted them to do the entire front but they said that it didn't make any sense because it was plastic and they said it was a waste because I can use a touch up marker or if it got real bad I could just buy a new bumper cover.
I looked around online and made a few calls and here's what I found:
I got two quotes to do just the hood and the front part of both fenders for around $300.00.
However, I looked online and you can purchase the same kit from 3M that companies use and do it yourself for $119.00. The kit comes with the hood piece and both fenders pre-cut with the application solution and instructions. Apparently from what I read on the 3M webiste its kind of like putting window tint on. The solutions are soap and water and the other is 25% alcohol and water. And the only tools needed are a squeege and towel.
If anyone is interested here's the webiste for the kit:
^ xviper did this, and may even have a DIY thread.
it's not as easy as putting on window tint because the curves you're dealing with are more complicated. and if it touches the ground, you're toast-- so have someone help you.
I toyed with putting one on myself-- still toying with it-- and posted a thread about it.
