I got two quotes to do just the hood and the front part of both fenders for around $300.00.

I Zainoed mine last night!!! God bless 4 day weekends!! Turkey and lots of Zaino. You just can't clay bar it, I learned the hard way. Gets on the edges and makes them more visable (yellow).
I WOULD NOT, REPEAT NOT, DO IT YOURSELF!!! I watched the guys do mine, and it takes a lot of experience to get it right. Two big issues. First, once you lay it down, you have to use a razor blade/art knife to score the edges to remove it, WHILE it is on your CAR!!! If you go to deep, you will put a razor blade to your beloved S2K. The second thing is learning to put the 3M bra down without "feathering" your edges. This is more common on the curvier edges but happens because the film has "memory".
Lastly, If you do it yourself and screw up, you are going to be out $120. If the folks that come do your car screw it up, they will typically give you a 5 year warranty and come back to your house for free if it messes up.
Not worth saving $200 to me. Good luck!!

I realize the difficulty in applying the film, but I am only looking into doing the hood and the front portions of the fenders. The hood shouldn't be too difficult since it is fairly flat. The other thing is that I am looking into purchasing the film precut for the hood and fenders and was planning on having my dad help me so I can have a extra set hands. And with the fenders the only real curve is from the top middle portion. I saw the template for the bumper and that looks too complicated for me to attempt myself.
Anyways, I haven't committed to doing it myself yet, I'm still calling around getting price quotes. It just seems kind of pricey to have three pieces applied to the car. So far the going rate (from two quotes) is around $300.00 for the "standard kit" which is the hood and front fender caps.
Does anyone know of any cheaper places in the Hampton Roads area? I've tried Ultrashield and Atlantic Shoreline Co.

Hey Hokie, I didn't realize that you could get them pre-cut. That would probably be alright for the easier parts. Good luck!!! Let us know how it goes if you do it.
