I've been reading so much about these three plastic window cleaners that my head is spinning! People on this board say Plexus, but S2Ki members say Meguiar's or 3M. THEN there's a whole separate link on S2Ki about these other brands of cleaners and polishes. Can anybody give me a definite, final, experienced opinion?

PS. What about shampoos for the top? Any suggestions?

Meguiar's - I have the cleaner and polish , it works okay.

Plexus - I recommend - much easier to work with.

ditto...

I only use Meguiar's when I need to remove scratches. Plexus for all other times.

These products (save for the 3m and Maguire's) are not mutually exclusive. 3M or Maguire's are for when you have scratches or some sort of serious plastic anomaly (SPA). Plexus is for when you just need to clean the rear window (all you will need most of the time). In other words you will want to buy both Plexus and either the 3M or Maguire's products.

I'd use the Porsche shampoo for the top. I'd also get Amazing Roll Off to deal with any stains that might find there way to the top.

There is no definite and final opinion, however. These are products that I have found useful and successful in my 1 year 3 months of ownership. Your mileage may vary.

Lastly, there is a Wash and Wax forum on this site that you may find helpful.

The 3m product probably gives the best result, while being the hardest to use. Meguiar's and Plexus are clear and are not messy. They are more than adequate if your window is in not too bad of shape to start with. You be the judge.

Here's a tip:

Mask off the top edges prior to using the 3M/Meguiar's stuff. It's not very much fun extracting this stuff from your top material.

Blue Magic Plastic Cleaner also works very well in removing the plasticizing on the interior rear window. Just remember to finish it off(polish) with Plexus and you will probably not need anything but Plexus for future maintenance.

Almost forgot... Get a Muz Mat!!!

YMMV.

Welcome Dj K-otik

I can say undoubtedly that this works for me.

I always use my MuzMat and find that Plexus alone is great for maintaining my window for up to a couple of months at a time.

Every fourth wash or so I use Meguiars #10 followed by Plexus as my window is getting a little hazy on the outside around this time.

If you have scratches or a very hazy window use Meguiars #17, then Meguiars #10, followed by Plexus.

I should mention my car rarely sees rain so the frequency with which you use these products will vary.

I don't use shampoo on my top but do give it a good stiff rinse with the hose to remove any dust. Once again my car is always garaged when I'm not in it so different conditions may require a different approach (i.e. shampoo)

That's funny, but I do exactly what Muz does. I actually use both the Meguiars and Plexus cleaners in the same way. I use the Meguiar's to get scratches out of the window, and the Plexus to just maintain the window.

By the way, I have a Muz mat, but still get an occasional scratch or two. However, before I had the Muz mat, I was getting a LOT more scrathes. I'd definitely recommend investing in the Muz mat for you.

Mark, pull that mat out every few months or so and give it a vacuum.
