Great write up. It pretty much sums up my thoughts on the gearswap.

I hope the noise thing is nothing serious!! Mine has the "whine" on deceleration, but I hear absolutely no buzz. I was told by a Honda engineer that the whistle in the diff under deceleration is normal...it's just "singing" to me. I felt much better hearing that from a Honda engineer.

Not enough backlash is bad too and could increase the noise level but probably would destroy your ring and pinion real fast so you could see metal shaving in the flushed oil !

@1500 miles: no metal shavings detected.

at what speed does VTEC come on in 6th? I've been thinking about the gears for track use, but running around all day on the Autobahn at 500 revs more than normal can't be too good for fuel economy.

Any way to fit in a 7 gear box?

you guys have any tips tricks for changing a rear diff..

I've got a great oppertunity to get some 4.77s for FREE (w/yellow box) but we need to do this tonight as D2D is trading in his car tomorrow..
