As someone who does actually like to drag race a little bit, I can't believe I missed this thread during it's first go-round. Very nice driving Wisconsin! I want to see that first vid when it is re-hosted.

I've taken my S2K to the track on two different track days. I've got the launch pretty much down, although I'm not as consistent as I'd like to be. In the 10 or so passes I've made down the track, I've managed 2.0 60' times twice, and a bunch of 2.1s. This was bone stock w/ the clutch delay thingy that the AP2 comes with. And I'm still running 14.1s in the quarter, which tells me I need to be shifting faster. This year I plan on going to the track a little more, and already have a spare set of wheels with some R-compound tires which should be a little stickier for the track (and also good for Auto-X) to try out. I also need to do that clutch delay removal mod. I'm hoping to get my 60' times into the 1.9 range or lower, and get consistently into the 13s without any engine upgrades.

Anxiously awaiting that first vid!

I think the first vid is still down. Bump up to the top so someone can host it!

I'm concerned for your differential man. I can imagine the stress being applied to your differential if you don't slip the tires on your launch with R compounds. OUCH!

Also curious if you get the results you want. Good luck anyways.

Yeah, I thought of that too. I've never tried launching on R-compounds before, and I don't really know HOW much they'll grip right off of the line. My plan is to take it really easy the first time out so I can get a feel for the difference. If I determine that there is WAY more grip than I expect, then I'll either switch back to my stock wheels/tires, or I'll be ordering the Comptech reinforced diff. I'm definitely not going balls to the wall without testing things out first.

would launching a AP2 still use the same technique of reving to 6k adn dropping the clutch? i am still hesitant to try this as i am afraid teh CDD will kick in and i will be looking at burnt clutch paradise.

it's difficult to say. the clutch delay can cause an issue. also, 6000rpm is not an arbitrary launch rpm. your launch rpm will vary dependent upon traction conditions.
