Default 4.57 Gears

hope this is not a repost. I just bought 4.57 gears and I would like to know if I have to buy the OEM Parts Kit. Can't I use the parts that I already have?? I ordered the yellow box from Rick but didn't get the I parts kit. should I order them?

To answer your question, it depends. Mainly on the condition of the bearings mostly. But at the least, you need to have a new Pinion Nut and Crush Sleeve. The Pinion oil seal should also be replace as it can be damaged during the removal.

The parts contain the following
1ea Pinion Oil Seal
1ea Pinion Nut (Honda specs it as a one time use part)
1ea Distance Piece (Honda specs it as a one time use part)
1ea Inter Pinion Bearing
1ea Outer Pinion Bearing

If you have to replace these after the gears are installed, the labor for the install (in dollars) will be the same to replace them. Also if they are damaged during the removal (They are pressed onto the pinion) You will have to replace them anyway. but your local dealer does not stock them, and you will have to wait. Most Honda Dealers order (and recieve) parts twice a week. But if the part is not at the local hub, then there is an additional wait.

Is it worth the risk? (Time and money)

Does that anwser your question?

P.S. We also sell them cheaper then you will find them at your local dealer too.
