4.57 hype or worthwhile?
I'm looking into getting some new gears for my S2k the idea with the 4.57 being the nice comprise between the 4.44 and the 4.7 sounds good but is it true? Has anyone used these as well as the other gears to know the difference? Any info on this is much appreciated. Thanks in advance
i run 4.77's myself. i don't regret it, and i'd do it again, but if i had the 4.57's, i'd prob be saying the same thing. both are awesome gears for different reasons. the below, of course, are my own opinion, esp considering i have experience only with the 4.77's:
-4.77's give more pull than the 4.57's
-4.77's aren't as highway friendly as the 4.57's
-4.57's i hear are a stronger gear (as far as taking a beating) than the 4.77's
-if you're going to go with gears, why not get the most power out of them?? ie ... 4.77's
this all is coming from someone who drives his S as a daily driver, but rarely puts any highway miles on his car. with my 4.77's, i do 5500rpm's at 85mph in 6th gear.

Interesting because I was reading on some other threads that people were doing about 5500rpms at the same speed with the 4.57 so I figured with the 4.77 you'd be at 6000-6500 easily. I drive my S daily as well but its on the highway. So you're consistantly are around 5500 in 6th at 85mph? (just wanna make sure it wasn't a typo) hehe...cuz that sounds reasonable then I might just go for the 4.77 instead of the 4.57.
-Can anyone out there with 4.57 tell me what rpms they are at at 85mph in 6th please? Thanks in advance.
