Default question on 4.77 gears

Hey guys im considering getting some 4.77 gears but i know the top end is bad on those but im curious as to how they compare to 4.56 or 4.57 gears on top end. lets say a stock s2k with 4.77 gears was to race another s2k with 4.57 gears from 50mph? wouldnt the 4.57 gears win or does it take a little longer for the 4.77's to start dying down to whereas the 4.57 are still going? if this is confusing let me know and ill try to rephrase it, i just wanna make sure the 4.77's are right for me, i dont wanna overkill or completely lose my top end...

depends on much more than just starting speed, gear, rpms etc...the better driver will win...i have 4.77s and getting to 120 in an ap1 at the top of fifth on a level road was EASY...who cares if there slower up top, SPECULATION i might add and how do u KNOW there slower up top if you dont have them?..where do u do most of your driving ze autobahn? if not imo idk how a lower fd could be more fun than my 4.77s...and for any1 that is thinking of saying hwy mileage is poor, it is not...i got 296 miles on my 4.77s w/o hitting the low fuel warning light with 1 bar left...hope i helped you in some way

I would really prefer if you used the effective new search, rather than re-hash this question that gets covered once / month.

I have 4.77's and I love em on the street. On big tracks I do not like em and would switch em out for stock or 4.44s if I were serious about tracking.

according to a speed calculator that goes by gear ratio, they should limit you to about 144mph. but how often will you even go above 120 if that?
