Thumbs up 4.77 Gears....

I'm interested in getting the 4.77 gears over the 4.57. I'm assuming the 4.77's are quicker than the 4.57's. I've read many threads on here about these two but I never get really good info on the difference between these two. The only thing I got out of the threads is the whine is higher, people just saying they have them, and what speeds at different rpms. I saw Wis.'s video on his 4.57 vs stock and that was awesome. Does anyone have a video with an S2k with 4.77's? If so, where I can get it?

Also, if anyone here has experienced both 4.57 and 4.77 in your car, which was quicker and how much quicker? Is it worth going to 4.77 quicker?

Thanks...

the 4.77 aren't a whole lot faster than the 4.57. they are pretty close, with the 4.77 being just a tad faster.

Does anyone actually have rough 1/4 times for the 4.44, 4.57, and 4.77 gears?

Also... are the 4.44 gears a legit option for someone that doesn't want to go with 4.57? The top speed on the AP2 is already quite a bit lower...

correct. in this regard it's referring to the final drive gear. the stock final drive is 4.10:1

if the number goes up, it means the gear is actually shorter, and will accelerate quicker.

nothing official on 1/4 mile times. but after enough practice at the track, i'll let you know how low I get. I would estimate that a 13.4 is possible with the 4.57's.

and the 4.44 would be just fine on the ap2. considering the slightly more agressive primary reduction gear, the 4.44 on an ap2 is the same as a 4.57 on an ap1. except for the lower redline. so the dynamics are a bit different.

so the 'final drive' gear = the ring gear in the diff?

yes final drive is the ring gear and pinion. you take the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion, and that gives you X. X:1 is your final drive ratio.
