Default 4.77 gears quick question..Update

Two quick questions, what is the backlash from what i read these gears are suppose to have when installed.

Also, compared to stock, when racing, is the stock suppose to start gaining after 100 or would the 4.77 gears keep accelerating faster until the top speed is hit.

Thanks

Update:

Installed the 4.77..

First impressions, car seems much quicker to accelerate. I still havent taken it to v-tec but it running good. They advised me for the first 600 miles to not take the car that hard and to also on the highway, not to stay at a constant speed so the gears dont set at a certain position. Also, no extra noise.. Sounds like stock.

If i vtec, will it affect the gears starting at 10mph.
Thanks

you're right.. it's in that area somewhere... where the 4.1 on an ap1 can get to around 153mph easy before drag starts to play a big roll...

Its gear lash not backlash. What they are referring to is that the 4.77 gears tend to be noisier than the 4.1's.

Backlash should be set to the OEM specs in the Helms manual. If I remember correctly, it is .003

And the 4.77 gears are made by Kia not Mazda.
