4000$ front end accident
He says he opted to get a front bumper, made it sound like he drove over it enough it folded in bad. Front bumper was swapped, the rest are intact. When he owned it I don't think he was concerned about resale, and to be honest I am not either. I wasn't even sure if he was going to sell it.
When we started talking 2 months ago, his wife was due to have a baby and now that he has his son I think he's changed his attitude. I don't expect to get anything back from it, I plan to be its final owner.
If I acquire the s2000 I'm stripping my Honda del sol down and rusting the body into an patchy ass rust rod and ending this downhill battle with rust I've had for 400 000km. I know alot of people hate that shit but it's on its last legs and that's how it's going out.

Is it me or is the right gap on the trunk weirdly big? Rear bumper on the right side looks misaligned as well, but I see that on tons of cars, some of which I don't think have had any issues.
As far as an $11K car costing more over time...
That's true - and I'd avoid it (I always try to work out what the best cost picture is over 5-10 years).... however there's something to be said for deferring some costs while you enjoy it. In other words, if someone could only spend 11K now and did so to get into a car that needed an additional 4-5K over the next few years (while he's driving the car), then it's probably not a crazy thing to do. The real problem is if someone can only spend $11K over the next few years. In that case, you run a risk of the car sitting on blocks while you sell other things... or sell a non-functioning car at a huge loss.

So then if you get a S2000 you'll be driving it year-round?
The rusty sol has always been my winter beater. That's partly why I'm cutting little pieces or sanding down spots and adding bondo or welding in new panels every three years and why at its core, it's a patchy mess. At least she taught me bodywork, but I bought the del sol for 2000$ CaD (1500USD) back in 2009. It was a steal and never owed me anything, probably 200$ a yr in parts, bodywork materials largely attained for free.
There she is lurking in the back

I would pass on it. Why not come down to the states and get a clean accident free S? I went 600 miles to get my wife's S 9 years ago, we have put 150k miles on it since then. Have a friend from Powell River,BC and he picked up his 70's muscle car(Pontiac) from southern Calif.

I'd probably feel more comfortable if I paid for a service to have someone local go see it, inspect if it's fair and take care of all the import stuff just to have it dropped off. there's also a 10% tax on used cars imported over 10000CaD (7500USD) to factor into account.
