Default 404 ! ! !

That's right ladies and gentlemen, I did it, today I managed to get 404 miles in a single tank of fuel. For this drive I stayed within 2 mph of the speed limit, except the 4-5 passes I had to make. I did not use any of the tricks to improve mpg -coasting in Neutral, tailgating etc.

Here are the environmental conditions.
Temp - 78- 98 F - yes hot as hell !
Wind - some, but I do not know speed or direction

Car-
AP1 - stock with K&N drop in filter.
Air pressure in tires = 36psi
Electronics - radio with my ipod, navi unit, and gps (for tracking alt and speed)

The drive and roads
Altitude = 10 ft to 4193 ft (including 4 climbs of 1000+ ft and 2 climbs of 2500+ ft)
Max speed = 79.1 mph
Ave speed = 50.1 mph
Top down = 369 miles Top up with AC = 35 miles
Interstate = about 150 miles
Secondary Roads = the rest

Cluster at the begining of the drive.

Picture from south east of the mountain

Me taking a break from the sun.

Me parked at the Mt St Helens Parking lot.

After stopping for gas. The recipt is hard to read, but it was 11.511 gallons. Yes that equals 35.10 mpg.

All I wanted to do was prove that it could be done.

Damn. My wife and I will be driving to Idaho (no, you da ho) in a few weeks. It's straight and flat. I'm hoping to test the mileage but I doubt I will see more than 300 miles per tank. I don't get it???

Awesome. I get right at 30 MPG highway, but that's with top up. I do need to add some air in my tires, maybe that will help. Anways, congrats! Good to know it can be done.
