anybody heard of 5.1 gear set ??? That should give our S a go...But how about top speed ? Anybody can calculate this for me ? (Sorry, I'm only counting pills ). Good or Bad ??

5.1 would KILL topspeed. I think the car would be undriveable at hwy speed. I have the 4.77 and I'm at 5500rpm/80mph.

5.1 is nothing, they need a 6.33.

 

according to that, the top speed on a s2000 is suppose to be 170mph....wow. That's a pretty nice top end.

 

But the car will NEVER get to that speed on its own steam. You can gear a car to get to a "gazillion" mile per hour. What does it matter if it can't get there?

 

Top speed with a 5.1 ratio, you're looking at about 133mph with a 6.33 you're looking at 108mph

 

in that case, I think a 7.2 is in order

remember guys that you can change the final drive through overall tire diameter.

 

But 12" wheels won't clear the calipers and I don't think they make an aspect ratio of 10!

 

lol...I should clarify, you can get 4.44 and through getting smaller diameter tires or taller diameter tires, you can fine tune the final drive. It's easier to do the fine tuning with the 4.77s (un-biased opinon here )
