5 Reasons You'd Sell Your S2000
#22
Reason 1 -
It's 30+ years old. There are no parts to maintain it (discontinued and junkyards have been cleaned out), and the only way to keep it running is via custom fabrication of parts (like a delorean). at which point, it should hopefully be worth more than $50K.
Reason 2 -
I'm offered a lot of money for it, as in over $35k (obviously not happening any time soon).

Age.
Not mine , the car's.
We're targeting getting a decade out of our DD's; hopefully in the next couple of days my Boxster shows up and my wife drives the S2000 for three years. Sometime in the summer of 2017, we'll be selling the S, at this rate it will have around 71K miles. It should still be fine, but I just don't want to trust a car with a lot of years under its belt as a DD.

A Boxster on the other hand....

This is actually the reason i am currently parting out and selling my S.
I discovered how awesome motorcycles are!!!
Cheaper, faster, more reliable, repairs and parts are for the most part cheaper, and wayyy more fun to ride.
As fun as the S was to drive, it pales in comparison to my new Yamaha Fz-09. I have never have so much fun in my life and seeing as I already have a stick shift civic as a daily, the motorcycle is my new fun and release, I literally dont even care to drive the S anymore which is crazy cause it was the only thing I looked forward to driving just several months ago
If i could keep all 3 I would, But 3 payments puts somewhat of a strain on my finances and the civic is to new and reliable to not keep as a daily. So the S has to go. I will be sad to see it leave but that feeling wont last long once i jump on the bike lol

My first love is motorcycles. Currently riding an '04 Interceptor. Have an '03 S that I bought new 11 years ago. My daily is a 2010 Civic LX 5-speed. If I wasn't into autocross, I'd probably sell the S for another motorcycle. Fortunately, mine are all paid for.

I'd straight trade it for a 993, though - then sell the 993 to get an S2k AND an 87-88 911.
*only talking Carreras - I don't care about Turbos - NA > FI.

Only Porsche I ever just really really wanted was a 997/991 GT3...and yes, I'd sell the S for one if I could afford it. But if I can afford a 997 GT3, I could probably afford to keep the S too.

I don't see myself ever selling my S. There isn't another car that could replace it, no matter the price. Fun to drive all the time, reliable and easy to work on. For basic maintenance. My Osyssey needs a lot of work right now, but my gf has a Subaru Ourback. If we need to haul something large. I haven't been without a vehicle for 40 years. I suppose it could happen again, but it won't be voluntarily.

Just sold my old one specifically because I had just bought a newer one.
That's the only reason.
I plan on staying in an S for the foreseeable future.

need more room for a proper roll bar for a 6'3" ooaf. Safety first ;-)
purchased 98' M3 4dr 5spd - one of about 4,800 with manual trans and one of 215 in Boston green. I didn't sacrifice much in the switch.
