Yeah, I hate having 300 WHP. Spoils it completely.

Besides, i like the NA setup in auto-x better than turbo. Too much spooling, lag, etc.
You must hate VTEC then

How about the 2.5L stroker block from InlinrPro? I know someone selling one for $3500.

Lag is negligible as long as you choose the right turbo for your application. And even if you were to put a giant slow-spooling turbo on the S, it's still going to be considerably quicker everywhere throughout the rev range than a stock S.

It is definitly possible to make an addition 80whp and stay N/A, however you CAN NOT do it cheaper then going F/I. Its just not possible. I am getting my Inline Pro 2.5L and just awaiting the final assembly of it all into the car right now. I should make about an additional 40whp and 40ft/lbs peak, and but at some lower revs it will be making an additional 70hp & tq in the mid range. This is on stock exhaust, header, intake, only other "mod" is an EMS to tune it. I will be posting my dyno once all is done with mine.

However with this kit, it is possible to make 280+whp you just really need the right cams. Ya's made 263whp and his differences were a mildly P&P head, 13:1 compression vs 11.5:1, a T1R 63 single and T1R test pipe. Thats it.

So you could see that with cams, header, bigger exhaust...there is a lot of room for improvement.

So to answer your question, no, nobody has actually broken 280whp N/A yet and shown dyno's to prove it. Is it possible, most definity. Is it cheaper then F/I, never has been and never will be.

you know what they say about vtec, "all of the lag, none of the power of the turbo"

I like how smooth the stock vtec engages, it's nicer to control, and when let off, you're not trying to hit the front windshield with your face.

just wish I had 80 more whp, and this car will be just about perfect.

it's just one of those things i guess...

problem with that engine is, you're not only looking at $10,000 for the engine, you're looking at install/swap, and most important aspect of it all, tuning your ECU (which is going to require a EMS).

that's $$$ compare to sticking a Full Race Stage 3 GT Turbo kit in for a lot less (which I'm looking at...)

I figure the only way you'll get 80whp cheap is reducing the weight of the car, but I like my leather interior and compartment cubes and radio and a/c.

I'm still amazed at the fact that with H/I/E there is minimal gain of whp.

very expensive doing H/I/E route compare to the whp gain on s2k.
