So get gears and/or a properly sized turbo.

Your situation just requires proper engineering of the system for the application. Not that big a deal.

problem with that engine is, you're not only looking at $10,000 for the engine, you're looking at install/swap, and most important aspect of it all, tuning your ECU (which is going to require a EMS).

that's $$$ compare to sticking a Full Race Stage 3 GT Turbo kit in for a lot less (which I'm looking at...)

I figure the only way you'll get 80whp cheap is reducing the weight of the car, but I like my leather interior and compartment cubes and radio and a/c.

I'm still amazed at the fact that with H/I/E there is minimal gain of whp.

very expensive doing H/I/E route compare to the whp gain on s2k.
Actually the I/H/E thing does gain quite a bit of power with the S2000 and it is very responsive to those mods. I mean, come on what N/A 4 banger gets an extra 80whp out of that?! That would be a 40% gain in power with minimal mods.

Truth is, if you went with a 70mm header-back exhaust (T1R/J's...), a J's header, and K&N FIPK intake you'd gain about 20whp. Then, add a VAFC tune on top of that and you could probably break the 230whp mark. IMO that is considerable for such minor mods. And at this point, buying name brand stuff and paying for tuning, you have probably spent ~3500

So thats about $115 per 1hp...expensive yes, but its a pretty large gain in hp for fairly minimal mods. Imagine the cost of a stroker motor per hp...assuming you upgrade a lot of other stuff along the way, thats closer to $250-275/hp after all is said and done. F/I is more in the $60-80 range

I guess that is a tricky situation. If you gain 80whp, that means more displacement, which means a lot more money.

if s2000 had a 6 cylinder engine, it wouldn't technically classified as mid-engine car, and it'll take the 50/50 into whack.

I've done the turbo thing and I honestly like the N/A better for some odd reason, don't ask me why...

just something about making N/A go super fast feels good and it's a rare thing these days, since everyone is bolting a turbo in their mini-vans and prius.

Do you want a tissue? Seems like an awful lot of bitching to me.

If you want 80 more horsepower, just add a centrifugal supercharger. Definitely the cheapest route to get those kind of gains.

No, you'll get 0 hp from gutting the car, just like you'll get 0 hp from adding different gears. Weight reduction just makes your car faster by having less mass for the engine to move.

If you want to get 80 more rwhp cheap, then sell the S2000 and buy a Camaro or a Mustang.

i knew someone was going to say that. yeh, that was the implication. 0hp gain, but better weight to hp gain... which equals to like having more whp... sigh...

why would I buy a camaro or a mustang? is that what you drove before? because I got 80whp with intake, tbe, mbc and tune with an Evo.

I've done the turbo thing too...and honestly I probably wouldn't have done the stroker had I not needed to replace my block. But a small crack in the block meant I needed a new one. I always wanted the 2.5L but the money for it was more then an S/C and doesn't get the same gains.

But now that I will be getting the 2.5, I'm happy, its what I've always wanted the car to be. And for myself a 12.9 in the 1/4 will be fast enough. I've got 4.57's too.

how does that work out with 4.57 gear and sc?

I think 4.1 will work better with the FI setup... but i haven't really come to a conclusion on that or researched it too much on it.

I don't have S/C, I am 2.5L + 4.57's

As for how that feels, I don't know yet...anxiously awaiting it to be finished
