In my new spa yellow I was completing a pass and the engine started to cut off (and on again). Was going 93mph and was in 3rd or 4th gear. Had forgotten I was not driving my automatic and when into the redline. Slowed down and engine was fine. Am now at 500 miles and have been keeping the engine under 6000 rpm. Although no problems yet could I have damaged the engine?

I'd say you're close enough. The break in is merely a guidline. I have known many people that drive like crazy the second its off the lot and they have never had a problem. It's one of those things were is something blow in your engine 5 years from now you will wonder "is this because I forgot I was driving a manual?" Fuel cutoffs are there to prevent engine damage. After my breakin I have hit the rev limiter many times. So IMO don't worry about it just take care in the future.

If you hit 93 mph in 3rd gear you were on the rev limiter because 3rd gear directly translates into mph; 40 mph = 4000 rpm, 60 mph = 6000 rpm and so forth. If you hit the rev limiter in fourth, I don't know your speed, but its a hell of a lot more than 93.

I'm one of those people who puch their cars the day I get them off the lot, I've never had an engine problem relating to this in any car I have owned. I would prefer to punch it and have something happen in the 36,000 mile rand rather then the 100K range where I pay for it (or more likely its long sold)...
