9pound carbon fiber hood / 4pound carbon fiber trunk
Hey guys, recently I have been looking in doing some lightening modifications to my S2000! With that in mind I was looking for a hood and trunk that was lighter than stock (hood 19pounds) (trunk 15pounds) and that did not kill my wallet (like the $2500 mugen hood weighing 12 pounds)! I know there is allot of companies out there that make "carbon fiber accessories" hoods, doors, trunks, bumpers, etc... but the quality is not there and the product it self weighs more than stock which would defeat the purpose, unless of course you have 3000$ to dish out for a trunk by c-west (that weighs less than stock). Getting to the point now, what if you were able to get a true race hood weighing in at about 9 or less pounds for about $1200 would that be of a interest to you? Not only would you have the looks but weight savings of 10pounds too!!! Also the trunk weighing in at about 4 pounds or so for $1100 made with real carbon fiber and as strong or stronger than other trunks that sell for 3 times as much... would that be of interest? BEING RATIONAL how much would out pay for such a quality product if you were in the market for this? Soon enough it may be on the market so I would like any form of interest to be posted with your thoughts on this! thanks ~nate

My Top Secret Hood weighs a noticeable amount lighter than the stock hood, looks good, and is about $1300. The trunk by S2KWhite was lighter than stock, but I don't think he makes it anymore.

Well that's cool but you would lose 20 pounds and you would get carbon fiber show pieces as well. Mainly, I am not trying to talk anyone into buying this, I am talking to the people that already have interest for some c/f pieces for their s2k! But thanks for your input! ~nate

That would be so pimp. 9 lbs. is sick. The lightest hood that I know of is the Mugen hood at 12 lbs. and it costs $2600. It's a no-brainer, the hood would be 3 lbs lighter at half the price. The OEM look is better IMO anyway. I'm down. Not to mention the trunk. . .

Companies make hoods, companies make trunks. Go for something different. How bout a reasonably priced carbon fiber OEM style hardtop or carbon fiber OEM style doors with and without the door handles. Tackle those 2 projects instead and you will receive much more interest.

Well doors and such could be something that could be done down the future... but for now I want to see how many people would appreciate a fully c/f hood that weights 9pounds for $1200! If this catches on then i'll see about doors even though that would be a nice item on the list ~nate
