Yea I wasn't going to have it done at Honda anyways. I just went there to get the estimate so my insurance knows how much to send me. I'm thinking of going with the canvas top with glass from cabrioworld.com or from robbins off of ebay.
I see. Good luck with the new top!

That's one ugly cutting job right there -- looked like an animal ate through the roof or something. These thieves are, thankfully, not so good. Maye you should get a proximity sensor for your alarm or something. At least it catches a little more attention when they cut the top open and sit inside the car.

Sorry to hear about your top....... that hurt to even look at those pics.

As far as pricing goes..... I live in Richmond VA so I'm not sure about labor rates in Texas but.... I had my top replaced last year and this is what I discovered....

The dealers will most likely farm out your car to a local convertible top repair shop so they will mark up the repair shop's price. Take it to the repair shop yourself, leave the dealer out of the picture all together.

I replaced my 2002 top (with glass) for about 1,000. I ordered the top MYSELF and had it shipped TO the repair shop directly. The repair shop charged me 900 to install it but the regular price is about 1,100. (I got dealer pricing because my insurance company was NOT paying for my repair) They said it wasn't vandals so it wasn't covered.

It takes about 3 days of labor. They have to remove the seats, the rear panels, it looks like a surgery (I went to see it while it was apart and it was very upsetting) but that's just what it takes. It's not easy to replace this top and I would get someone who knows what they are doing to do it. ALSO please get your elastic straps replaced as well. They WILL need replacing about every 3 years.

You can get Hardtopguy to give you a quote on a new top, that's the best way to start and then see if your local dealer will match the price. That's what I did. I saved about 600 by doing it this way. But the top itself prices out at about 1,300.

Good luck, I'm sure it ruined your birthday but at least they didn't steal the entire car..... tops can be replaced.

You should upgrade to the glass window version of the top.

You need a breakdown on the costs...how much for parts and what is labor.

get a hold of Jeff via email or phone and I'm sure he'll set you up properly

You can buy glass tops for 5 or 6 hundred. Then, pay someone that has done it before 5 hundred for the install. And then, give me 1000 dollars for giving you this advice and keep the extra 1000 for yourself.

Car vandalism is a pain in the butt, but it's also very lucrative. You just have to play the system and make as much money as you can off of your insurance company.

Get some kind of alarm system that will make NOISE when people try to get into your car.

Oh man... it seriously hurt me looking at that. I'm devastated now and it's not even my car. I'm really sorry man. Those asses deserve to be shot. Some people just can't be normal for some reason... so stupid.

I really don't know about the pricing, so I can't help you there. All I can say is that make sure it doesn't leak when you get it back cause my friend used to work for honda and he had to do a top once and he said it was hardest thing ever to do. On top of that... he left it outside and it rained... next day he went to bring it back into the shop and there was a pool of water inside his trunk.

How did they get the car back that far? Took the E-Brake off and rolled it back to make it easier or something? And how did no one see that considering it looks like there's a lot of cars out there and seems like a pretty quiet place?
