Default about to make purchase on 00 s2k

well.. I've been in the market for a S2 for a long time now, and recently I found a black/blk 00 s2 with roughtly 44k miles.. saw the car and its condition is not the greatest. Slight bump on rear bumper which caused the paint to crack.. and door dins here and there.. it just had blemishes that bugs me.. (im the anal type). But here comes the hard part.. the owner has agreed to sell me the car for around 18.3... now thast about 1500-1800 off blue book. What do you guys think.. the car has a clean title, no accident.. should I just buy it or wait on a cleaner one and pay more for it. opinion would be greatly appreciated!

Personally, being the anal type myself I'd wait for a cleaner one with less miles. Why not go for an MY02 or later with the glass rear window and slightly better stereo?

Certainly nothing wrong with a MY00, but if you're the anal type you'll end up kicking yourself everytime you see a cleaner one. No doubt you'll love an S2000 and will end up keeping it a long time. So you might as well wait til the perfect one (for you) comes along.

One more suggestion, get a quote on insurance BEFORE you buy an S2000!

Never rush into a car purchase. Patience is a true virtue when buying a new car, if you have any doubts at all pass on it. When the right car comes along you will know it.

S2ksks,

Mayhan1980 has a 2003 Spa Yellow, certified used at Valencia Honda for under $24K with 4.9% financing. That's only about 50 miles from you.

s2ksks,

Hey I lived in the city as you man. What a small world. I live in west covina from 1987-1997. Now I live in Covina.

I am also looking for an S2000. On Saturday, I test drove one at a Porsche dealer. The car had only 6600 miles and it is only 6 months old. Problem is that it has a lot of scratches and one of the front lip (I think you called it mug guard) was gone. Anyways I wanted $27k out the door, but they wanted $28.5. I say no way.

I might go the route of getting it new for $32.5 out the door. Goodluck and let me know when you get it.

Thanks,
Tony

Most of the replies you have gotten from the board members are correct...you should definitely wait!

A great opportunity will come around...
