Use a leaf blower. You will get weird looks from your neigbors but absolutely no swirl marks. It's quicker and in the winter your hands dont get as cold

I use a very thin sheepskin chamois to dry my car, and A LOT of patience. It takes me about 2-2 1/2 hours to wash the car. About an hour spent washing/rinsing and an hour and 1/2 spent drying.

It takes patience and endurance You have to wipe every drop of water off the car. There is also a technique for using a chamois, which is to spread it holding the corners and pull it across the surface by the corners. It hurts your back after a while, but it dries the car very well.

Also, you'll find that by the tail lights, water gets stuck between them and the bumper. I apply pressure to the bumper and blow into the crack to get that water out. Otherwise, when I finish drying, it drips down the side leaving a water mark. The other 'trouble' spots are the mirrors and the bottom of the doors. Water gets trapped there and drains out. I also constantly re-wet the entire car while washing it so that water doesn't dry on it and leave spots.

I suspect if you have a leaf blower, that would be easier.

Maybe I'm reading something into this that isn't there, but you should never try to wipe off any soap. You should be rinsing ALL of the soap off of the car before you try to dry it. Make sure that you are using a good car washing soap, not dish washing detergent. With a good wax job on the paint, the soap should be easily removed with your hose. Use a steady stream, not a spray and get a good sheet of water (you might try taking off the nozel). If all of the soap is removed and you use the proper soap, you should not have any problems, such as you described.

Enjoy your good looking car.

A good chamois nevertheless ... Though it will still have fine swirls sooner or later, you just have to wax it good to have a good surface finish.

I use the California Water Blade. It's like a giant squeegee for your car and guarantees not to scratch it. It was about $20 at Walmart and dries the car pretty quick.
