EDIT: Sorry, I believe this is in the wrong forum, should be in Under the hood.

I've got a question, but I'm not sure what it is. So heres the deal, when I'm accelerating hard and I up-shift fast it seams like I'm burning the clutch , although *I* am not slipping/burning the clutch. So lets say I shift from 1st to 2nd at/near redline. The rpms dont drop for a second or so which sorta feels like I'm slipping the clutch while holding the rpms(again the clutch is out during this 'feeling'). It doesnt seem like I'm loosing power but it doesnt sound "healthy" vs. normal shifting when the rpms will drop a little to match engine speed then come back up with the acceleration. So I've only noticed this when I "slam" the gears shifting realy fast. It there a name for this (If this is posted eleswhere I wasnt sure what to search for)? Also is this normal/ok? I've also expereinced this when I hit the redline as I was shifting. The slipping feel lasted what seemed like 2 seconds or so while all the same time the redline was flashing but the fuel was never cut. Then the rpms slowly dropped down and continued to accelerate. The S stays pulling hard while this is happening. Any thoughts are apprecitated.

Thanks.

What you're describing sounds exactly like the clutch is slipping or at the least, engaging too slowly. Usually it means the clutch is burned/worn or the pressure plate has collapsed.

What year is your car, how many miles? Some of the early MY 2000's had a similar problem. When starting on an uphill, the clutch would slip for a while before engaging all the way. You can also test how well the clutch is "clutching" by accelerating hard in 5th or 6th with your foot off the clutch. See if the RPM's increase faster than the MPH's.

My S is a MY 04 thats just turning 3k miles. I does feel like the clutch is slipping but I dont get the stinky rotten sock smell that you usuall get with a slipping/burnt clutch. I haven't abused the clutch like a person that doesn't know how to shift. Heck I haven't ground a gear yet in the 3k miles. So would you say my clutch assembly is defective maybe? How would I go about bringing this up at the dealer? Maybe I should just forget that and go aftermarket?

Thanks.

So that's what that is! I get the same "symptoms".. and I thought it was my technique.. Been driving manual for over 10 years, was kinda stumped why this was happening.. So other than swapping the 03 and previous clutch cylinder, we 04 owners have to live with this?

Would changing the 04 pressure plate to either Mugen or ACT solve the problem? Or do we have to change the stupid delay thing?

I slowed down my shifting a bit and it stopped the slipping for the most part.

When I went f1 the problem is compounded. Will this delay cause increased wear to the clutch.I am thinking about the swap, but want to see if there are any downsides.I do not want to kill my diff.

im going to try this on my car as well. since, it's still suspect.

anyone having any experience with the clutch slipping? i have my 04-06 delay out. i dont launch my car. and usually every so often i take off from 1st to 2nd hard. i'm not sure if it's clutch slippage or tires could be spinning?
