According to the graph I have on my computer.
Ap2
2nd Gear 8,000rpm ~ 57mph
2nd Gear 10,000rpm ~70 mph

My feeling is that you're probably ok. However, I highly recommend that at minimum do a compression test and check your valves.
Where can I find a graph like that?

How do you misshift from 4th to 2nd ???
OP was in 5th, meant to go to 4th, accidentally ended up in 2nd. The classic money shift.

time to invest in compression test.
When the tech tells you "all's good" you can start enjoying the car again.

Hey guys, sorry to revive an ancient thread but I unfortunately managed to do this in my AP1 today. I didn't fully release the clutch but it definitely hit redline and probably over-revved. If I was going 70mph, what would the RPM be? Everything I can find about the AP1 says it should have been doing about 9500RPM but I'd like to know for certain what range I was in. Car idles fine, no weird noises, no loss of power in the top end. I plan to pull my valve cover and check my retainers tomorrow but it seems like the problem wouldn't really show itself for some time so I'm trying to gather as much information as I can. Thanks.

Considering that AP1 redlines around 61-63mph in 2nd gear

Idk it wouldn't be that severe of a over rev.

Be safe and check it anyways!!! If you have a lot of miles on your AP1 it has a higher chance of dying on you. On my first AP1 with 70k miles, I did the money shift (6th to 2nd) and it bent a valve. On my 2nd AP1 (4 years without driving a stick), I mis shifted and down the road the valve retainers cracked, dropped the valve in the block and all went bad! (it did have 165k miles though)
