How often do you change your oil?

Me, About ever 4000 miles, stretched to 5000 on this last one.

What about the rest of you? Always at 3500? or do you let it slide any?

 

10K miles, just had my 4th oil change.

 

With as much track as I did last year, I didn't change it enough. I was religiously changing at every 3k, but when I did it was like crude oil...black, burned and nasty! I switched to Mobil 1 at my 1st change at 7000 miles.

Given that I will be on the track at least as much this year, I will be changing every 2000 miles...maybe more.

 

I'm from the old school so every 3K miles, I have new fresh synthetic oil.

 

i change out every 3k or so. makes it easier to remember than every 3750 and I can hit the 15k, 30k etc to do the more major services.

 

After break in...2,500 miles/change. This may sound ridiculous but oil is the life blood of an engine! Remember manufacturer's make the majority of their money on spare parts.

I think you are confusing your saying with "dealerships make the majority of their money on service (and/or parts)". Manufacturers do not make the majority of their money on spare parts, and most certainly not on internal engine parts like bearings, rings, and valves. (actually, all these things are made by suppliers anyway, so why would Honda or any other OEM have a stake in boosting their profit).

However, I do not disagree with your life-blood statement.

Mingster, .... and changing oil at 750 is better than 1500, etc., etc..

There is no such thing as too frequent an oil change!!
