Last Saturday I was in Birmingham, Alabama and needed to get my oil changed so I went to Towsend Honda in Riverchase. I pulled in and the service guy asked me what I was in for. I told him that I needed an oil change. He got my information and directed me to the waiting area. I asked him how much was the oil change and he told me $35.00. I was like WTF! I told him that I had never paid over $27.00 for an oil change and that the price was way too high. He told me that the S2000 uses a "special" type of oil and that the F20C engine needs more oil that other engines in their line up. I told him that I wanted to talk to the manager about this. The service manager comes out and argues the same thing. I tell them that I'm not paying that and leave. I go up the street to the Acura dealership and they quote me $27.95 after tax and associated charges. They also vacumed and washed my car. Plus they gave me all I could consume Starbucks coffee, Famous Amos cookies, and Coke. I had a nice leather couch to sit on and cable tv to watch. I'm taking my car to Acura for service from now on!

Nice! I'll keep that in mind though I like doing all the maintenance and servicing myself.

I've had the same sort of experience. I use Acura for my non-warranty service if I can...

Customer service is a million times better at Acura than any Honda dealership. But be careful most of them use crappy oil to keep cost low. They usually have Redline and or Mobil1 on tap if needed but guaranteed you are not getting that with your $27

Why not just change it yourself- it's easy as can be and a bit rewarding when you are done. Not to mention the piece of mind you have when doing your own work.

You forgot to mention that my car got washed and vacumed as well. The car wash was worth $10.00. The Starbucks coffee was worth $2.00. I got a $0.75 20 oz Coke. And two servings of Famous Amos Cookies work $1.50. So if I just had the luxuries without the oil change I would have spent $14.00. So my oil change really only cost me $13.00!
