Add me to the windshield replacement list
I had the smallest pit on my windshield that unbelievably developed into a crack this past weekend. Never in a million years did I think that a small blemish like that would have developed into a full blown crack. Anyway, after much debate on who I should take the car to and if I wanted OEM glass or not, I found that all of the dealers I trust sub out their work to outside glass shops. I finally decided on Eagle Auto Glass here in Tyler and they came out to my house and did the repair in my garage. The guy was extremely careful and did an excellent job. He used PPG glass that was an identical copy of the OEM glass (having bad luck in the past with rear view mirrors attached to glass, I was worried about this, but the PPG glass had the exact same hardware and "black spot" under the bracket).
It will be interesting to see if the PPG glass is more durable than the OEM.

I had mine done last Saturday (May 31st) by Saftlite Auto Glass. They used the PPG glass and did an excellent job. I think the bill was around $235, but I have zero deductable glass coverage, so I didn't pay real close attention.

That process can be done by hand, using a saws-all is sorta lazy even if it is quicker. I have replaced a few windshields in my day and I don't need a saws-all for anything.
