Default Added security for the S2K

So... just so that I feel a little more comfortable leaving my car in places where I would feel a little uncomfortable, I was wondering what type of clubs you guys use if any. I've tried the search and nothing comes up. Only thing I get is... park with the top down... lol.

I've tried the club for the pedals. It fit nicely but was a little loose where a thief would have no problem in getting it out, for it isn't his car and isn't afraid to scratch the interior. I stole my mom's steering wheel club, but more for deterring thieves away because I know that wouldn't stop them.

Any input you guys?

Andre

Stay away from any highway leading to Newark. ... what an oxymoron. All roads lead to Newark! 78, GSP, TPK, 21, Rt1, etc.

Honestly though, I have read to keep your doors unlocked (to 'deter seat theft') so they don't slash the top to open your car. I personally lock my doors. It is why I pay insurance and if they take my OEM seats---Brides/Recaros here I come!

Maybe get the club-style thing that goes below the clutch. After turning off the engine, wheel-lock the car. These things only slow down an amateur thief.

Best thing to do is park in a garage overnight. Nothing works better. Good luck.

ps. Where in NE NJ are you?

I definately want to get the Wheel-Lock but I have no idea where to get one. I was just at the Autozone yesterday and I forgot to ask about it. I'm assuming they have it?!?!?!?!?!? Where do they sell them? I never take the car into Newark... no way!!!!... lol. I got to school there (NJIT), but I take my 1986 Jetta Diesel there... lol.

I'm really close to you man... North Arlington. It's like 7 min from the Clifton Commons.

STAY AWAY FROM THE COMMONS!

I live in a nice neighborhood in Clifton and I had to have been followed since I live in the center of the neighborhood and have to take many turns to get to where I live. Thieves stole my headlights from the Maxima back in Summer '03. The Commons is like a grocery store for car-jackers. I know of two M3s that were stolen from there with countless amount of horror stories in the Clifton newspaper.

I meant turn your steering wheel all the way until it makes that 'click' sound. I wouldn't put a wheel/rim lock on my car. It only attracts more attention and potential carjackers will think you put it there because it has 'extra' items.

Autolock, fuel pump kill switch sounds like a good combo.

when you talking about car sercurity, it's all about layers of protection.

if they really want your S, it would be gone.

nothing beats a tow truck and 1 minute later, the car is gone for good.

the thing about autolock is that you could still drive the car without hitting the clutch panel, something you learn from hpde

not sure what are you saying but you shouldn't left the car with the steering wheel turning to the extreme end for prolong period of time.

not sure how it would affect EPS but for regular PS, it's bad for the system

when you put on the steering wheel lock, turn it inside out, with the key facing inside, they can still saw it off or break the struct but if they are going to pick the lock, then they have to do it with limited room.

same idea with autolock, face it toward the outside so if they are picking the lock they have to pick it with door wide open and hopefully your neighber will meet him with a 12gauge shotgun

i would get an alarm with a pager(viper 791vx), with an extra battery and proximity sensors.....then i would get the "clutch club", which locks up the clutch and is made by a company called "Autolock" and can be purchased at pepboys/kragen/autozone for $50....maybe even get a kill switch?....i believe that these are the best bang for the buck.....

p.s....the viper 791vx is regularly $499 at bestbuy/circuit city, try to make a friend who works there coz they get the 791vx for $170 with their employee discount =D

like a piece of cheap metal that works like a good ole' auto club but instead of the steering wheel, it's used to lock the clutch or brake pedal.

the idea was simple enough, steering wheel can be cut with a hack saw in less than a minute because the softer structure of the wheel, it's design that way so you don't bust your face. The piece of metal used for the clutch and brake is reinforced due to the regular abuse it needs to endure everyday.

however the autolock could be saw off, there's also a design flaw on the lock cylinder(i am not going to how and where and what to use) which you could pop in out if you know how.

they are better than clubs but there's still alot of cars getting jacked with the autolock. There's even some recovered car with the autolock still on, they drive the car without using the pedal, yes like i said before you could do that

it's like 50 bucks, the have a polished one also

a well hidden kill switch would be more effective.
