Is anyone using this? Is it really necessary considering the car has the ignition imobilizer built in?

i used to use The Club as a weapon - it splits into 2 nice steel pieces you can use to "club". so yeah, it offers quite a bit of security

on the other hand, i've seen (on TV) where people saw through the steering wheel that used The Club...didn't somebody say our steering wheel was made with magnesium alloy or something for weight savings/balance? think if some dumbass tried to saw it, and made just enough heat to spark the magnesium...

I think this has been discussed before on more than one occasion; however, while the club can be a deterent to the casual joyrider/amateur, it can be easily defeated by a professional thief. While the immobilizer circuitry does indeed protect our cars from being started without the proper key (hot-wired, etc.), nothing prevents a dedicated thief from putting the car on a flatbed truck and hauling it away.

The club is a weapon replacing the baseball bat.
The only place the club doesn't go on is the steering wheel.

I don't like the club, I'm afraid it might mess up the interior.

The Club will deter no one but kids who are looking to steal a car for fun. It adds only about 40 seconds to the job of a professional thief. If you want a steering wheel lock, I'd suggest getting one that has a twin hook design on each end that can't be removed by sawing the wheel.

Don't rely to much on the immobilizer. Like I've said before, more than one 00+ immobilizer equipped Integras have been stolen. They were not flatbedded or towed.

I use it because I figure it might be the difference (even if only an additional 40 secs) between your car being selected to be stolen, or the one next to you. But, if someone wants your car bad enough, they will get it. I have seen cars on flatbeds, as I am sure most of you have, with their alarms blaring. I use mine because I already had one...wouldnt bother buying one if I didnt have one.
