Adding Rollbar, what about the seatbelts?

Wow, it looks like I'm one of the first guys to build a S2k into a street Hotrod.
I mean a 150mph, 9000rpm, top handleing street car, driven by a bunch of putt putt drivers seems to just be a waste of a fine machine.
Why not just get a base price Civic and make it look fast!
Why not just come new to an established forum and act like an obnoxious jackass?

Sweet comeback.

Look man. Standard seat belts are made to keep your upper torso from moving forward while allowing it to slide toward the center of the car in the event of a roll over. That's why everyone recommends that people not use a 4 point harness without a roll bar. The standard seat belts allow your head to get down somewhat from the tops of the standard roll hoops.

I don't know how your roll bar is configured so I can't comment on that but the standard roll hoops and windshield frame have shown to be pretty damned effective in S2K roll overs. Whether your head will hit your roll bar or not...... only you can determine that but most people here would recommend you keep it out of the area your head can hit if you are using it in a street application.

All I asked was if someone has replaced there rollbars with a better one, how did they configure the stock seats belts. Since there tied into the airbag system, a street car will need them.
If the upgraded rollbar is in the same place as the stock one, the chances of hitting your head as calculated by Honda, would be almost nothing.
I've installed lots of roll bars and cages in customers cars and several of my own. I've built street driven 200mph cars that drove in the Nevada State races. My off road truck has a full cage with padded bars and it just uses the stock seatbelt and sholder harness. In 20 years and half a million miles, I've never hit my head on the bars.

So when I ask about a better rollbar in a 150mph car, and get asked Why. It tells me that this car isn't getting driven very hard, except maybe to the Mall.
A couple of the S2K's I looked at to pull parts off of, that the OEM rollbars didn't hold up, would make you think twice about pushing the S2k to it max potential.
Heck, I push my beater Honda Accord 120mph all the time, so I'd like my S2k just a bit more safer.

Check this link out. This might help you out a little.

Depending on how you configure your rollbar you may be able to bolt the retractor w/ a cage mount clamp like in the pic he showed.
