Default Advice on Buying an S2000

Hi all,

I was just wondering if any of you could give me some advice on what to look out for on a S2000 when buying one second hand. I have had a look through the forum and it seems like the gearbox/clutch seems to be a problem that pops up time and time again. I understand that there hasn't been an official recall on this but the potential expense is sizeable if something goes witht he gearbox.

I actually got as far as getting a professional mechanic from the AA (UK) to one car and paid for him to look it over. Having spent the money the guy pulled the car up on the gearbox and advised me not to buy it, which I didn't. He subsequently said that over a four year period he has analysed at least 20 S2K's and failed most of them on the gearbox!

Any views on this? Also what are other common problems that are worth looking out for?

Thanks,

Matt
